Freshman earns first weekly honor setting PR in high jump

MACON, Ga. (Dec. 5, 2012) – Setting a personal best in her first collegiate meet this past weekend, ETSU women’s track & field freshman Kristin Chapman (Jacksboro, Tenn.) was named Atlantic Sun Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Chapman, a product of Campbell Country High School, was one of three Buccaneers to take a third-place finish at the Clemson Orange & Purple Winter Classic. The ETSU freshman competed in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.55m on her first attempt. The mark went down as a personal best for the newcomer, as she garners her first A-Sun weekly honor after her first collegiate weekend.

The ETSU men’s and women’s track & field squads get back to action Friday, Jan. 11, in Birmingham Ala., at the Blazer Invite.
