This Week in ETSU Athletics: Dec. 17-23

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 17, 2012) – Below is a list of all the ETSU Athletic events taking place for the week of Dec. 17-23.

Men’s Basketball (2-6)

This week: The Bucs return home for the final time in 2012 when ETSU hosts Charleston Southern inside historic Brooks Gym on Tuesday night. Tip is set for 7 p.m., and the game can be heard on WXSM-AM 640 The Extreme Sports Monster. Tuesday’s contest will also be video streamed live on ASun.TV and live stats will be available through ETSUBucs.com. From there, the Blue and Gold head over to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic, which begins Saturday Dec. 22. During their time on the Island, the Bucs will play three games in four days, beginning with No. 8 Arizona on Dec. 22. Saturday’s game with the Wildcats will be televised live on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m. (Eastern). In addition, all three games can also be heard on WXSM-AM 640 and will either be broadcast on ESPNU, ESPN2, or ESPN3. Joining ETSU and Arizona in the tournament are: Hawaii, Indiana State, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, San Diego State and San Francisco.      

Last week: ETSU wrapped up its difficult three-game road swing with a 77-55 setback at Ole Miss last Friday night inside the Tad Smith Coliseum. Red-shirt freshman Lester Wilson (Knoxville, Tenn.) played all 40 minutes and scored a team-high 14 points, while junior newcomer Hunter Harris (Nashville, Tenn.) added nine points and 12 rebounds. Senior Jarvis Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) – who missed the first seven games of the year – made his season debut with an 11-point, five-steal performance. As a team, the Bucs forced Ole Miss into 18 turnovers and scored 17 points off those mistakes.

Women’s Basketball (2-3)

This week: The Lady Bucs will play a pair of games this week before having an eight-day break for the holidays. ETSU takes on former SoCon rival Appalachian State inside Brooks Gym on Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 p.m., before traveling to Ames, Iowa for a showdown with Iowa State on Thursday. Tip against the Cyclones is set for 8 p.m. Tuesday’s game with the Mountaineers will be broadcast on WXSM-AM 640 and can be viewed live on ASun.TV, while live video and stats of the Iowa State game can be accessed by visiting Cyclones.com.

Last week: ETSU saw its two-game win streak come to an end last Thursday as LSU rolled past the Blue and Gold, 76-42, inside the Maravich Center. Junior guard Shawn Randall (Orlando, Fla.) scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while freshman guard Brianna McQueen (Jonesboro, Ga.) scored 12 points and dished out five assists.
