JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2013) – Baseball America and CollegeBaseballInsider.com released their Atlantic Sun Conference preseason awards, and junior Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.) and senior Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) garnered attention from the polls.

Freeman, who had already been selected to the preseason all-conference list, was named A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year by Baseball America. Meanwhile, CollegeBaseballInsider.com polled all the coaches in the conference, and Freeman was voted “The Most Underrated Hitter” along with one of the “Top Power Threats” and “Best Pure Hitters” in the league. The Jonesborough, Tenn. native led the Blue and Gold with a .365 batting average in 2012, while Freeman’s 81 hits tied for second in the A-Sun.

Green also received attention from CollegeBaseballInsider.com as the A-Sun coaches selected the senior outfielder as the “Best Baserunner” in the conference.  Green led the Bucs with 22 stolen bases in 2012, which placed him third overall in the conference. In addition, Green’s 22 swipes also tied him with Ryan Wagner for fifth in ETSU single-season history. Green enters his final season with 53 career stolen bases, placing him third all-time on the list and 23 shy of passing Tony Martin (1980-83) for the school record.

The Bucs are gearing up for their season opener which gets underway on Friday, Feb. 15 when ETSU hosts Penn State at Thomas Stadium. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m.
