Second selection in two months

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 30, 2013) – For the second time this offseason, ETSU women’s soccer freshman Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria) will head to Austria to represent the national team of her home country in a game versus Italy.

Zadrazil and Austria take on the Italians April 7 in Faak am See, Austria.

The Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year represented Austria back in mid-February against Belgium. Representing Austria multiple times is something the young Buccaneer does not take lightly.

“It is a great honor to play for the senior team of Austria,” said Zadrazil, who tied the ETSU single-season assists record with 10 over the fall. “I am one of the youngest on the team and to be selected twice in the past few months really means a lot.”

Competing at the highest level is familiar territory for Zadrazil. Prior to joining the Bucs, she represented the U17 and U19 national teams and was captain of her U19 squad. The upcoming selection to represent Austria’s top women’s team is Zadrail’s seventh

In her international career, Zadrazil has scored 13 goals, beginning as a member of Austria's U17 team. She helped that squad win the first round of UEFA U17 European Championship qualifying by scoring four goals in group play. Zadrazil was called to join the A-national team later that year, competing against England, Turkey, Slovenia and Nigeria.

“The fact Sarah has been selected twice in succession emphasizes not only her ability and how comfortable she is at that level, but her commitment to representing her country while maintaining her commitment to ETSU,” Buccaneer head coach Adam Sayers said. “She balances and manages her studies and athletics very well.”

Zadrazil is one of several Lady Bucs who have represented their countries. Sophomores Jasmin Dutton (Kinmel Bay, Wales) and Ellis Parsons (Cardiff, Wales) have represented Wales, freshman Hannah Short (Bristol, England) played for England, while freshman Simona Koren (Graz, Austria) has also represented Austria.
