JONESBOROUGH (May 6, 2013) – A full field of 132 players enjoyed a day of golf while also raising scholarship dollars for the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics during Monday’s AT&T BASA All-Sport Golf Tournament at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.

BASA – the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association – has hosted this unique tournament for 10 straight years in an effort to meet the needs of ETSU’s student-athletes. This year, the tournament was expected to net over $32,000 for the program’s scholarship fund.

“Once again this year we had a great turnout and we are very happy with the show of support from the local community – both corporate partners and individual fans,” said Matt McGahey, ETSU’s assistant to the athletic director for special projects. “We want to thank AT&T for their generosity in acting as the name sponsor for the event, and it’s our hope to continue building this tournament each year.”

The tournament, which was held at the beautiful Blackthorn Club at The Ridges, is one of the most unique charitable events in the region. Each year, the BASA Tournament features outstanding team prizes, registration gifts, hole prizes, and a post-event dinner from Texas Roadhouse.

Plus, the tournament provides an opportunity to spend the day with ETSU coaches, staff and other special guests.

Four different participation levels are offered to play in the tournament, which range from $500 to $5,000. Along with the golf, food and opportunity to win hole prizes, each participant received a $250 Nike gift certificate (to be used at the mobile store) and a custom-embroidered ETSU Nike golf hat.
