Polish standout finished first in the 2012 World Junior Golf Series rankings

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 17, 2013) – Head East Tennessee State University men’s golf coach Fred Warren announced Friday that Mateusz Gradecki (Oborniki Śląskie, Poland) has signed his national letter of intent to play for the Bucs starting in the fall of 2013.

Gradecki comes to ETSU with a strong resume and joins fellow Toya Club teammate and current Buccaneer golfer Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland), who was recently placed on the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team and All-Freshman Team lists.

Gradecki won the 2011 and 2012 Polish Amateur Championships en route to finishing first in the 2012 World Junior Golf Series (WJGS) rankings. In 2012, Gradecki also finished fifth in the Junior Orange Bowl Championship and currently ranks fourth in the WJGS standings with 20175 points. Through six events, Gradecki posted four top-5 finishes in the WJGS, as he also finished second in both the American Junior and Toya Polish Junior Tournaments, and third in the Czech International Junior Amateur Championship. Gradecki actually finished second behind Meronk in the Toya Polish Junior.

The Polish golfer also played with Meronk in the 2012 World Team Championship where Gradecki finished tied for 67th in the 214-player field back in October. Last May, Gradecki also led Poland in the French Amateur after posting a 70 in the final round to finish in a five-way for ninth.
