Devine named assistant for U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  (June 19, 2013) – For the second straight year, ETSU head volleyball coach Lindsey Devine has been selected to help assist with the USA Girls’ Youth National Team, which was announced earlier this month by the USA Volleyball organization.

Devine – who was the assistant coach for the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team last year at the European Global Challenge – will again be alongside legendary coach Jim Stone as the team will represent the United States in the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U-18 World Championship to be held July 25 to Aug. 4 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

This past weekend, Devine was at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as the team held a three-day tryout to reduce the squad size from 26 players to 16.

The remaining 16 players will participate in a third training session July 8-21 in Anaheim, Calif., at the American Sports Centers, which also serves as the USA Men’s and Women’s National Teams Center. During the third tryout, the roster will be reduced to the maximum 12 players who will represent the United States in the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U-18 World Championship.

The U.S. qualified for the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U-18 World Championship by winning the 2012 NORCECA Girls’ Youth Continental Championship held in Mexico last August.
