Doane picks up a pair of accolades from ABCA

Buccaneer hurler named First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 20, 2013) – The accolades continue to pour in for ETSU right-handed pitcher Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.).
Two days after finishing third in the running for the inaugural Gregg Olson Breakout Player of the Year award, Doane picked up a pair of honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Doane was named to the Rawlings ABCA First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American lists.
In his final season with the Bucs, Doane went 13-2 with a 2.14 ERA in 20 appearances (17 starts), along with leading the nation in complete games (12), innings pitched (147.0), and tying for the lead with four shutouts. Doane also set new single-season ETSU records for complete games and innings, while tying the marks in wins and shutouts.
Doane, a 24th round draft pick by the Cleveland Indians, became the first Buccaneer player to receive Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Year and Tournament Most Valuable Player honors. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native was named Louisville Slugger First Team All-American and Second Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, while also being one of 30 semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award and one of 22 players to be placed on the National Pitcher of the Year Watch list.
Doane is currently in playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers – the Class A Short Season affiliate for the Indians.
