JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2013) – Entering the weekend with a two-point edge over Florida Gulf Coast and Northern Kentucky for first place in the Atlantic Sun standings, the ETSU men’s soccer team will conclude conference play Saturday as it hosts Lipscomb at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the match, ETSU will honor its outgoing senior class, the winningest class in program history.

LAST TIME OUT

The Buccaneers (7-5-3, 5-2-0) won their third match in four tries, beating USC Upstate, 4-1, at Summers Taylor-Stadium Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Three different ETSU players found the back of the net, with Jonny Campbell (Johnson City, Tenn.), Luis Calzadilla (Caracas, Venezuela), and Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil) each scoring goals.

Senior forward and reigning Atlantic Sun Player of the Year David Geno (Kingsport, Tenn.) assisted both of Calzadilla’s goals.

ETSU’s four goals marked the program’s highest offensive output since Oct. 5, 2012 when the Bucs cruised past North Florida, 4-0, in Johnson City.

LIPSCOMB – Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m. – LIVE STATSTICKETS

The fourth-place Bisons (8-7-1, 4-2-0) have lost two of their last three matches, including, most recently, a 1-0 home loss to non-conference opponent Evansville.

Lipscomb is paced by Omar Djabi’s eight goals and three assists. Djabi leads the Atlantic Sun in goals per game (0.50) and points per game (1.19).

BY THE NUMBERS

Lipscomb and ETSU rank second and third, respectively, in the Atlantic Sun for total goals, with the Bisons having scored 19 goals this year, compared to the Bucs’ 16.

The teams also rank near the top of the league for goals against average. ETSU boasts a conference-best mark of 0.82, while Lipscomb ranks second, allowing just 1.05 goals per game.

SUPER SENIORS

Just before game time at Summers-Taylor Stadium, ETSU will recognize its outgoing senior class comprised of Luis Calzadilla, Jonny Campbell, Ryan Coulter, Itode Fubara, David Geno, Nate Hodges, Ronnie Hreha, and Blaike Woodruff.

Over the past four years, ETSU has won 42 games, making this year’s senior class the winningest in program history.

The group helped the Bucs to four wins and three draws against Top 25 opponent, in addition to guiding ETSU to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010.
