NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 5, 2014) - Just one day after scoring seven runs, the ETSU offense was held in check Saturday, as Hunter Brothers tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout for Lipscomb, leading the Bisons past the Bucs, 5-0.
Brothers, who has been wildly inconsistent for the Bisons (20-12, 9-2) this season, was keyed in from the opening pitch, retiring 18 of the Bucs' first 21 batters en route to hurling his first career complete game. The redshirt-junior struck out seven batters while allowing no walks, lowering his ERA from 7.46 to 5.35.
The Buccaneers (14-16, 4-4) saw just three batters reach base on the day, with Dylan Tritsch (Boca Raton, Fla.) being hit by a pitch in the second inning and Trey York (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Chris Riopedre (Miami, Fla.) recording singles in the third and seventh innings, respectively.
Lipscomb jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring three runs in the game's opening two innings.
Junior Grant Massey, Lipscomb's second batter of the day, tripled to right field before being driven home by Drew Adams. Sophomore Austin Sistrunk led off the second inning with a double to left center, scoring on an RBI-single up the middle by Josh Lee. Lee would go on to score on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Bethune, extending the Bisons' lead to 3-0.
The Bisons added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning thanks to RBI singles by Mike Korte and Massey. Lipscomb has now won 18 of its last 22 contests.
On the mound for the Bucs, junior Jimmy Nesselt (Plantation, Fla.) pitched five and one-third innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits. The Plantation, Fla., native struck out three while walking three.
Senior Jared Burton (Knoxville, Tenn.) relieved Nesselt in the sixth inning and went on to pitch two and two-third scoreless frames, striking out four batters and allowing just a single hit.

Freshman left-hander Jamin McCann (Kingsport, Tenn.) will be taking the mound for the Bucs. In 24 innings of work this season, McCann has posted a 4.50 ERA, striking out nine batters, while walking six.
