NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 5, 2014) - ETSU's pitching staff was unable to contain Lipscomb's high-scoring offense Saturday, as the Bisons combined to score 19 runs in two games, earning a pair of conference wins. The Buccaneers were outhit on the day, 18-6.

The Bucs (15-20, 4-10) entered the weekend coming off a midweek series split with Presbyterian. Prior to Saturday, ETSU had won four of its last five games.

Four ETSU players recorded hits in Game One of Saturday's double-header versus Lipscomb, with Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.), Katie Wolff (La Grange, Texas), Jackie Baird (Ooltewah, Tenn.), and Jennine Duncan (Jonesborough, Tenn.) each recording singles in the 9-0 loss.

Rena' Cothron and Kristen Sturdivant combined to drive in five of the Bisons' (30-9, 10-6) runs, with Sturdivant slugging a three-run homer in the first inning and Cothron driving a two-RBI double to center field in the fourth.

Ashley Anderson pitched her 13th complete game of the season for Lipscomb, moving to 14-2 on the season. Anderson, who faced 20 ETSU batters, needed just 73 pitches in her five innings of work.

While by contrast, ETSU starting pitcher Whitney Leon (Dandridge, Tenn.) threw 103 pitches before being driven from the game after three and one-third innings. Leon allowed eight earned runs on five hits, walking nine batters and striking out three.

The Bucs' day didn't get any easier, as the Bisons went on to win Game Two, 10-1, behind a five-RBI effort from Cothron.

Cothron belted her second homer of the day, this time a grand slam, in the third inning, before hitting an RBI single in the fourth. She finished the day batting 3-for-4 with seven RBI, two home runs, and two walks.

Heather Parker allowed just two ETSU hits, however, Baird's first-inning single was enough to drive home Alex Everett (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) who drew a walk before moving to second when Wolff reached on an error by the shortstop.

On the mound for the Bucs, freshman Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) allowed 10 earned runs in three and two-thirds innings.

Fellow freshman Rebecca Wahrmund (Morrilton, Ark.) combined to pitch one inning of scoreless relief Saturday, pitching two-thirds of an inning in Game One, and one-third inning in Game Two.

Lipscomb has now won 17 of its last 23 games.

The Bucs will wrap up the series versus the Bisons Sunday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Live stats for the game can be found by clicking here.
