ETSU releases schedule for football coaching clinic

JOHNSON CITY (July 24, 2013) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has released the speaker list and topic schedule for this weekend’s first annual Carl Torbush/ETSU Football Coaching Clinic presented by Appalachian Orthopedic Associates, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 inside the Martha Culp Auditorium on the ETSU campus. 

The clinic, which will also feature former Tennessee head coach and current ETSU football consultant Phillip Fulmer as well as other college coaches, is open to coaches at all age and skill levels from youth leagues to high school. While the cost of the clinic is $20 for early registration (prior to July 25) and $30 day of the event, ETSU students can attend for free. All proceeds will benefit the ETSU Kickoff Fund.

Participants in the clinic will receive an exclusive ETSU football folder and enjoy a full day of coaching instruction, with sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration with a continental breakfast is set to begin at 7:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided on campus by the Chick-fil-A at the Crossings of Johnson City.

Other coaches scheduled to appear include former ETSU Buccaneer and current Maryville College head coach Mike Rader, current University of the Cumberlands head coach John Bland, and former North Carolina assistants Kenny Browning and Ron Case.

 

Below is the event schedule:

7:30 to 9 a.m. – Registration

9 to 9:50 a.m. – Kenny Browning: Techniques and fundamentals of defensive line play

10 to 10:50 – Ron Case: Press man technique and fundamentals

11 to 11:50 – Phillip Fulmer: Technique and fundamentals of offensive line play

Noon to 1:20 – Lunch

1:30 to 2:20 p.m. – Mike Rader: Wrinkles off the zone read

2:30 to 3:20 p.m. – John Bland: Shotgun option and iso option

3:30 to 4:20 – Carl Torbush: Take away circuits, tackling circuits, pursuit drills

4:30 to 5 – Breakout sessions and Q&A
