ETSU assistant coach selected to NSCAA “30 Under 30” program

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (August 13, 2013) – ETSU women’s soccer assistant coach Debs Brereton has been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) “30 Under 30” program, a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for up-and-coming collegiate coaches.

Brereton was chosen as one of 15 men and 15 women from a field of more than 350 applicants to participate in the inaugural edition of the program. Launched this summer, the “30 Under 30” is aimed at fostering the growth of coaches who are rising in the ranks during a crucial point in their vocation.

“I am confident that this program will challenge me to become a stronger female coach, equipped with the knowledge and tools to encourage and support other females to continue making an impact from the youth to collegiate level,” Brereton said.

Brereton is entering her third season as an assistant coach for the Buccaneers. Prior to coaching at ETSU, she enjoyed a successful playing career at Middle Tennessee State University, where she was named the Sun Belt Conference ‘Player of the Year’ in 2004. Brereton also played multiple seasons at the professional level in the W-League and WPSL.

ETSU will open its season on the road against Appalachian State Aug. 23 at 7:00 p.m. The Buccaneers home opener will be Aug. 30 against future Southern Conference opponent VMI.
