Monday, September 16, 2013
MACON, Ga. (Sept. 16, 2013) – For the third time in her career, ETSU senior outside hitter Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) received Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors, which was announced by the league office on Monday.
Devine, the ETSU all-time leader in kills, totaled 80 kills, 43 digs, six blocks, and a .324 attack percentage (80-19-188) in four matches (16 total sets) last week for the Bucs. In addition, the Kingsport, Tenn. native tallied a pair of double-doubles, moving her career mark to 58.
On Saturday, Devine was phenomenal in ETSU’s four-set win at Tennessee. The reigning A-Sun Player of the Year recorded a career-high 27 kills and added 16 digs en route to registering the Bucs’ first win over the Lady Vols in 34 years. Devine also hit a season-best .404 (27-4-57) and tallied four blocks versus UT. Meanwhile, the 27 kills are the most by an A-Sun player in a four-set match and the second-most overall this season. Devine began the week with another impressive performance as she helped guide ETSU to a five-set come-from-behind win at Marshall after finishing with 23 kills and 16 digs against the Thundering Herd. The Buccaneer leader just missed recording a third double-double for the week as she ended with 18 kills (.382 attack percentage) and nine digs in a 3-1 win over in-state rival Austin Peay.
Devine and the Bucs return to action this Friday as ETSU opens A-Sun play at Mercer.
