ETSU names Jake Amos men’s golf head coach

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 17, 2019) – East Tennessee State University Director of Athletics Scott Carter announced on Monday that Jake Amos has been named the new head coach of the ETSU men’s golf program.

Trio of Bucs to play in Amateur Championship; Espinosa gears up for Junior Golf World Cup

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 16, 2019) – A trio of Buccaneers will play in the 124th Amateur Championship, while incoming freshman Samuel Espinosa (Pedrina, Spain) gears up to represent Spain in the Junior Golf World Cup – all of which begins Monday. The Amateur Championship is being held in Ireland and the Junior Golf World Cup is held at the Chukyo Golf Club Ishino Course in Japan.

Enoch posts a 71 in third round of U.S. Open

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (June 15, 2019) – A day after making the blistering charge up the leaderboard to make the cut late Friday evening at the U.S. Open, former ETSU Buccaneer standout Rhys Enoch carded an even-par 71 in Saturday’s third round action from Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Enoch Fires Second-Round 66 to Make Cut at U.S. Open

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (June 14, 2019) – In just his first U.S. Open appearance, Rhys Enoch made history as the former Buccaneer fired a second round 66 (-5) to make the cut at +2. Enoch’s round of 66 ties the second-lowest score ever in a U.S. Open when played at Pebble Beach and was the second-lowest round of the day behind leader Gary Woodland who shot a 65 (-6).

Player Named Athlon Sports Preseason FCS All-American

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 11, 2019) – Just five days after finding himself on the HERO Sports Preseason All-American First Team, Nasir Player (Columbia, S.C.) lands on yet another FCS Preseason All-American squad in the Athlon Sports’ 2019 Preseason FCS All-America Team. Player is the lone Southern Conference representative on the All-American team.

Trio of Bucs Tabbed HERO Sports Preseason All-Americans

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 6, 2019) – Three Buccaneers landed on the HERO Sports Preseason All-American teams as announced by HERO Sports earlier this afternoon. Defensive lineman Nasir Player (Columbia, S.C.) was placed on the first team, while both Quay Holmes (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Tyree Robinson (Gainesville, Ga.) landed on the second team.

Bucs Land Pair of Transfer Quarterbacks

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 3, 2019) – ETSU Football Head Coach Randy Sanders has announced the signing of a pair of transfer quarterbacks, Chance Thrasher (Coastal Carolina) and Cade Weldon (Univ. of Miami (Fla.)). Thrasher and Weldon have officially begun classes in Johnson City, as the duo have joined the roster for the summer sessions.
