(May 27, 2016) – A day after winning the program’s first ever match in the NCAA Doubles Championship, ETSU men’s tennis players David Biosca (Sant Fruitos De Bage, Spain) and Rogerio Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made some more history Friday defeating the nation’s top-ranked doubles team from Florida, Diego Hidalgo and Gordon Watson, by scores of 6-4 and 7-5 to advance to the tournament’s quarterfinal round. With the win, Biosca and Ribeiro achieve All-American honors. They are just the third and fourth players in program history to achieve the feat joining current Head Coach Yaser Zaatini (1991, 1992, 1993) and former Buc Enrique Oliveras (2008).

Biosca pushed Torpergaard to three sets but ultimately fell, 6-3, 6-7 (3) and 7-5. Biosca finishes his junior season with a record of 17-5, while Torpergaard improves to 30-4 with the victory.

Former Buc Sander Gille is making waves in the pro ranks

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 19, 2016) – Former ETSU men’s tennis player Sander Gille has been making waves in the professional ranks as of late. Gille, who graduated from ETSU in 2012, recently picked up a singles victory over the 99th-ranked player in the world, Thiemo de Bakker, for his first career win over a player ranked in the top 200 in the world. Gille defeated Bakker, who was ranked as high as No. 44 in 2010, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-6 (4).

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team turned in another strong showing Friday at the ITA Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn. A pair of individuals advanced to the quarterfinals in the singles bracket, while a doubles team also advanced to the quarterfinals as well. Overall, the Bucs went 8-2 Friday.

Men’s Tennis turns in an 8-2 day at ITA Regionals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team turned in a strong showing in the first day of competition at the ITA Regionals Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn. Both of ETSU’s doubles teams advanced to the second round, while three individuals advanced to the third round.

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 6, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team closed out play at the ITA All-American Championships Tuesday afternoon. The Bucs, who went 1-2 on the final day, finished the event with a combined 8-8 overall record in singles and doubles competition.

Herrera leads Bucs on day two of ITA All-American Championships

(Oct. 4, 2015) – Sophomore Robert Herrera (Barcelona, Spain) picked up a pair of wins Sunday to lead the East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team in day two of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Collectively, the Bucs went 3-1 moving their record in the event to 7-2.

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 3, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team went 3-1 in day one of pre-qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships. The Bucs will return to the court Sunday as they continue to try to qualify for the tournament.

Biosca earns ITA Preseason Singles Ranking

SKILLMAN, N.J. (Sept. 15, 2015) – East Tennessee State University men’s tennis player David Biosca (Sant Fruitos de Bage, Spain) has earned his second consecutive ITA Division I Preseason Men’s Singles Ranking Tuesday afternoon as he received the No. 88 ranking. Prior to last season, Biosca earned the No. 97 ranking.

ATHENS, Ga. (Sept. 13, 2015) – The East Tennessee State University men’s tennis team picked up a win in its final day of competition at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. Sunday. The Bucs finished up the weekend with a 5-4 overall record in singles matches and a 0-2 mark in doubles.
