Holmes Sets School Record in Home Finale

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2019) – The home finale did not disappoint as ETSU held several celebrations throughout the game including: Senior Day, celebrating a 38-33 win and most notably witnessing a program rushing record set by Quay Holmes (Powder Springs, Ga.) as he scampered for 255 yards. Holmes’ 255-yard performance broke a 21-year-old record of 242 yards held by ETSU Hall of Famer, Brandon Walker.

Bucs’ Comeback Falls Short Against the Bulldogs on Senior Night

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2019) – It was a thrilling night in Brooks Gym as the top two teams in the Southern Conference took the court to determine the regular season champion. The ETSU volleyball team was unable to complete their comeback and fell 3-1 (25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-23) to the Samford Bulldogs on senior night.

TEMPE, Ariz. (Nov. 16, 2018) – ETSU’s final race of the fall was the most prominent of the fall with another top-three finish in the USA Triathlon National Championship. Lane McDonald (South Bend, Ind.) took the top spot for the Bucs, she finished fourth overall with a time of 1:07:42.

The Bucs distanced themselves from the rest of the field following the second-lowest round of the tournament, outlasting No. 41-ranked Ole Miss (-20) by nine strokes. McDonald Leads the Way for Bucs at East Regional Qualifier

Huddleston, Va. (Oct. 19, 2019) – The ETSU triathlon team was led by Lane McDonald (South Bend, Ind.) once again who placed third overall at the East Regional Qualifier on Saturday afternoon. The team finished second among five NCAA Division I institutions and fourth out of the 18 participating teams.

Bucs Unable to Pick up Ground on Field

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 19, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team had to weather both the golf course and the conditions on Saturday’s second round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. With steady rain and gusts of up to 23 miles per hour, ETSU posted a 13-over-par 301, falling to 11th overall in the field at 16-over-par. There were no team scores under par in the second round of the event.

JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 18, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers women’s soccer team dropped a tough result on Friday night, falling to the Mercer Bears in double overtime by the final score of 2-1 in front of the Blue & Gold faithful. The Bucs controlled much of the game, but a couple of Mercer bounces saw ETSU fall to 4-9-3 on the season and 0-5-1 in Southern Conference play.

Rhea Claims First-Ever Individual Championship

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 13, 2019) – Despite not claiming the team championship, the ETSU Buccaneers received a boost from its hometown junior as Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) laid claim to his first-ever individual championship at the collegiate level. Rhea became just the fourth Buccaneer to win the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate individual championship and the first since Adrian Meronk did so back in 2015. Rhea finished the tournament at 15-under-par (201), tying 2018’s winner (Simon Zach) for the second-lowest three-round score in the tournament’s history.

Bucs Surge up Leaderboard following Record-Setting Saturday

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf climbed five spots up the leaderboard following day two of the 2019 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges. The Bucs carded a tournament-record-tying 269 (-19) as a unit, tying Virginia’s mark set in 2016. Bucs Sit 7th in Day One of Windon Memorial

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 16, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf Team sits in the middle of the pack following day one of the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern in Lake Forest, Ill. The Bucs had a scorching 18 holes in round one, firing a 281 (-3) to sit in 2nd place. However, a tougher second 18-hole stretch saw the Bucs drop to 7th place following an 11-over-par 295 in the second round. ETSU played 36 holes in day one with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET followed by round two immediately after the conclusion of round one. Four different Buccaneers are tied for 23rd overall at 2-over-par 144.

(Sept. 15, 2019) – In a game that was delayed a total of 132 minutes and included one overtime, the fans had to wait until 1:08 a.m. to find out the result in the Buccaneers 2019 Southern Conference opener. Unfortunately, the fans witnessed the first loss at Greene Stadium on the season as the Bucs dropped a nail-biting 31-24 contest to conference foe, VMI. ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 8, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers saw their first tournament of the 2019-20 season come to an end on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Face, Ga. Competing in the Carpet Capital Collegiate for the first time since 2010, the Bucs did not disappoint in the opening tournament, placing T-2 with Charlotte and North Florida with a score of 17-over-par 881. ETSU only trailed host Georgia Tech, finishing with a score of 3-under-par 861. ETSU was one of only four teams to improve each round from carding a 302 (+14), 291 (+3) and a 288 (E) to make the biggest jump up the leaderboard for the second consecutive day, catapulting from 7th to 2nd.

Four of the five golfers in today’s action showed an improvement in their scores. NORMAN, Okla. (June 17, 2019) – For the 11th consecutive season, ETSU men’s golf team received the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Team Academic honors, as the committee announced its award winners on Wednesday.

(July 15, 2019) – Coming off its first Southern Conference Championship in program history last season, the ETSU football team earned preseason recognition on Monday, as the College Football America Yearbook released its preseason poll on Monday and the Buccaneers were pegged No. 25.
