Bucs close out non-conference schedule with a trip to Charlotte

Sophomore keeper Megan Masch currently leads the A-Sun with 48 saves.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 17, 2009) After dropping two tough road contests last weekend, the ETSU women’s soccer team closes out its 2009 non-conference schedule as they travel to Charlotte for a 5:00 p.m., match Friday evening at D.L. Phillips Soccer Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

ETSU (1-6-0) enters the match after falling just short against Mississippi State 2-0, Sunday. Overall, the Bucs have faced a strong schedule this fall, which include road trips to Tennessee, Western Carolina, Radford and Ole Miss.

Individually, sophomore keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.) looks to continue her red-hot play as of late. Against the unbeaten Bulldogs, Masch had a career-best 16 saves, keeping ETSU within striking distances throughout the entire contest. Overall, the second-year starter leads all Atlantic Sun Conference keepers with 48 saves.

Charlotte (4-2-0) enters the match after falling to No. 15 Georgia 3-2 last Sunday afternoon. In its home contest against the Bulldogs the 49ers railled to tie the match at 1-1, before UGA fired home consecutive goals for its sixth victory of the year.

Individually, junior forward Whitney Weintraub leads the three-time defending Atlantic-10 Conference champs this season with five goals and 11 points. Overall, offense has been the key to Charlotte's success as the 49ers have outshot its opponents 111-49.
