Lindsay Lane tabbed SoCon softball player of the week

, S.C. (March 21, 2005) - Lady Bucs senior third baseman Lindsay Lane (Irwin, Tenn.) has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, it was announced from the conference office today.  Competing at the Hokie Fastpitch Class hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. last weekend, Lane tallied a .462 batting average in four games.  She also tallied two homeruns, five runs batted in, six hits and scored five runs for the Bucs.

 

A senior from Irwin, Tenn., Lane is currently tied for the team-lead with four homeruns thus far in 2005, while she boasts a .289 batting average, and has started all 27 games at third base for the Bucs. 

 

ETSU holds a 10-17 record heading into competition this week where they will host Morehead State for the 2005 home opener at Metro Kiwanis Park on March 23.  The first contest of the non-conference doubleheader begins at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by game two immediately after.
