Special ticket incentives announced for Friday and Saturday's conference doubleheaders
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 24, 2011) - The Buccaneer softball team begins Atlantic Sun Conference action this weekend at Betty Basler Field, and the ETSU Marketing Department has announced exciting promotions for the pair of doubleheaders.
ETSU kicks off league play Friday evening when the Bucs host Lipscomb at 4/6 p.m., while Belmont visits Johnson City on Saturday afternoon for a 1/3 p.m. doubleheader.
Friday's promotion is "Book the Bisons," so fans who bring a new or gently used book will receive admission for only $1. The books collected on Friday will be donated to the Reach Out and Read Program for ETSU Pediatrics.
Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
Reach Out and Read builds on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers to develop critical early reading skills in children, beginning at 6 months of age. The 3.9 million families served annually by Reach Out and Read Program read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten better prepared to succeed, with larger vocabularies, stronger language skills, and a six-month developmental edge over their peers.

On Saturday, the Bucs have teamed up with Nike's ReUse-A-Shoe Recycling program for a special "Boot the Bruins" promotion. Fans who bring an old pair of sneakers to the park will receive a special $1 ticket price.
The Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program is designed to take used sneakers and turn them into Nike Grind material. The material is then used to build play grounds and different sporting surfaces across the country. To learn more about the program, visit http://www.nikereuseashoe.com/.
