JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2011) - The ETSU softball team wraps up its 12-game homestand Tuesday afternoon when the Bucs host Tennessee Tech in a non-conference doubleheader at Betty Basler Field. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

The Bucs (13-21) are coming off a heartbreaking loss to North Florida in game two of Saturday's doubleheader and hope to gain some momentum before hitting the road for eight critical conference games. Junior righty Shelby Morris (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) tossed 6.2 innings of solid ball, but as she looked to be in line for the win and a split over the Ospreys, North Florida scored four unanswered runs without putting a bat on the ball to capture the 5-2 come-from-behind win. Prior to the UNF rally, Morris allowed one unearned run on three hits in 6.2 innings of work; however, the Mt. Juliet, Tenn. native was tagged with the loss after finishing the game with four runs (three earned) along with five walks and two costly wild pitches.

Senior slugger Katie Henderson (Jackson, Tenn.) hopes to finish the homestand on a positive note as she is hitting .409 (18-44) with six doubles, three homers and 12 RBIs in 16 home games this season, while sophomore Sam Lower (Sebring, Fla.) is hitting .371 (13-35) with a double, two homers and six RBIs in her last 12 contests.

Tennessee Tech has lost four of its last six and currently sits 15-14 through 29 games this season.

The Golden Eagles, who already defeated ETSU 14-5 back in February, are led by Melody Christian and Chanelle Spalding at the plate. Christian is hitting a team-best .355 (33-93) while Spalding has recorded a .317 (26-82) average in 29 games this year. In the circle, junior righty Holly Thomas is 10-5 with a 2.50 ERA, while limiting the opposition to a .179 batting average.
