BOONE, N.C. (Jan. 22, 2010) - The ETSU track and field team had a good showing at the 2011 Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C. Saturday, as the Bucs saw 13 athletes post top five finishes.
"We had a very good meet at App State, and it was very encouraging to see how the team responded after last week's meet," said assistant coach Eli Sunquist. "Jarrod, Tim, and Ifrish did a great job on the men's side, and Jasmine and Lexie helped to lead the women. We did rest a few of our sprinters and jumpers this weekend, so we are really looking forward to sending a full squad to Liberty next weekend to continue the success that we had today."

Jarrod Burton (Bastian, Va.) finished first in the men's shot put with a throw of 54-10, while junior Cornell Sneed (Miami, Fla.) came in fifth with a personal best mark of 48-0. Burton also had a good day in the weight throw placing second with a mark of 58-10.
In the men's 3000m, freshman Christian Brewer (Knoxville, Tenn.) outlasted Georgia State's Chris Harper to finish first with a time of 9:05.29.
