JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 15, 2014) – The ETSU softball team will wrap up a seven-game homestand Wednesday, April 16 as the Bucs host Southern Conference opponent Furman for a midweek double-header, with games beginning at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.

ETSU will enter Wednesday's match-up on the heels of a three-game series with North Florida in which the Buccaneers (16-25, 5-13 A-Sun) picked up a 6-5 win in Game Two. With the win, ETSU moved to 5-13 in league play, a vast improvement upon a 2013 campaign that saw the Bucs earn just a single conference victory.

The Buccaneers will look to continue their strong play at Betty Basler Field during Wednesday's double-header. 13 of ETSU's 16 wins this season have come at home, including all five A-Sun victories.

BUCS AMONG NATION'S ELITE

Several ETSU players rank among the nation's best, with freshman Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) leading the country in fewest walks allowed per seven innings (0.61). The Brazil, Ind., native has allowed just 10 walks in 115 and two-thirds innings on the mound en route to earning a team-best 10 wins.

Meanwhile, junior Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.) ranks third in the nation with five triples. ETSU's starting center fielder belted two three-baggers last week, including one in the Bucs' 6-5 win over North Florida. She has also swiped 18 bases in 20 attempts.

Senior pitcher and first baseman Katie Wolff (La Grange, Texas) has struck out just three times in 108 at bats, making her the 10th toughest player to strikeout in the nation. Wolff, who leads the Bucs with a .370 batting average, has gone 6-of-13 at the plate over her last four games.

Fellow senior Jackie Baird (Ooltewah, Tenn.) ranks 12th in the nation for home runs with 13. Earlier this season, Baird become ETSU's leader for single-season home runs and career home runs.
