GREENVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2015) - The ETSU softball team earned a pair of wins Friday in the Pirate Clash invitational at East Carolina University, extending its win streak to four.

In the Buccaneers' (4-4) first game of the tournament, ETSU defeated Towson, 9-1, in five innings.

ETSU scored in three separate frames to manufacture nine runs on 11 hits, including a five-run fifth inning.

Kelsey Smith (Tucson, Ariz.)Kelsey Chernak (Ooltewah, Tenn.)Cassi Pickett (Chattanooga, Tenn.), and Bethany Cowart (Ringgold, Ga.) combined to go 6-for-10 at the plate, accounting for the Bucs' nine runs.

Sophomore Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) earned the win for ETSU, tossing five innings of one-run softball and allowing just four hits.

The Buccaneers' offense continued to produce in their second game of the day, helping ETSU to an 8-7 win over Bucknell, becoming the first team to beat the Bison (5-1) this season.

ETSU scored five runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double from Latosha Rectenwald (Whitesburg, Tenn.). Rectenwald leads the Bucs with seven RBI this season.

Bucknell went on to score seven unanswered runs; however, ETSU held on to win, 8-7.

Whitney Leon (Dandridge, Tenn.) and Madison Ogle (Maryville, Tenn.) combined to pitch seven innings, allowing five earned runs on just five hits.

The Buccaneers are averaging 8.50 runs per game over their last four contests.

ETSU will conclude play in ECU's Pirate Clash Saturday, Feb. 14, taking on Marshall and East Carolina at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
