UT's Gabriel tosses perfect game as Lady Vols extend 82-game win streak vs. in-state opponents
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 24, 2015) - No. 15 Tennessee's Erin Gabriel pitched the 13th perfect game in program history Tuesday, and the second no-hitter of her career, as the Lady Vols defeated ETSU, 10-0, in five innings at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
Seven Tennessee players drove in at least one run for the Lady Vols (22-7), including sophomore catcher Annie Aldrete, who finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI.
Tennessee entered the matchup boasting the nation's sixth-ranked scoring offense, averaging nearly eight runs per contest.
With the victory, Tennessee extended its win streak versus in-state opponents to 82 games. The Lady Vols are 111-3 all-time versus opponents from the state of Tennessee.
The Buccaneers (11-15) will host Tennessee Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m.
ETSU will be back in action Saturday, March 28 as the Buccaneers kick off a three-game series versus Chattanooga at Betty Basler Field in Johnson City.
