Saturday's doubleheader moved up to 11:00 a.m., start time due to forecasted weather

GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 24, 2015) - ETSU will visit Greensboro, N.C., this weekend for a three-game series versus league opponent UNC Greensboro. Due to forecasted inclement weather, Saturday's doubleheader has been moved up to an 11:00 a.m., start time.

GETTING UP TO SPEED

The Buccaneers (12-26, 1-11 SoCon) are looking to bounce back after being swept by league opponent Furman last weekend. Two of the Bucs' three losses to Furman came by just one run, with ETSU falling in Game One, 2-1, and Game Two, 7-6, in extra innings.

In Game Two of the series, freshman Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas) made her first career start, going 3-for-4 at the plate and scoring two runs.

Five ETSU players are batting better than .300 this season, including freshman Kelsey Smith (Tucson, Ariz.), who leads the Bucs in home runs (11), runs batted in (35), and slugging percentage (.691).

Nicole Fox (Peachtree City, Ga.), who has stolen 14 bases this season, is leading the Bucs runs (26), and hits (42), and is batting .313 this season.

Fox and Jenine Duncan (Jonesborough, Tenn.) have accounted for 29 of ETSU's 37 steals. Duncan is pacing the Bucs on the base paths with 15 stolen bases. In league play, Duncan is batting .385 with a double and two walks.

Freshman catcher Cassi Pickett (Chattanooga, Tenn.) is batting .309 on the year with five homers and a team-best .387 on-base percentage. In SoCon play, Pickett is batting .326 with four doubles and seven RBI.

Meanwhile, senior Alex Everett (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) has posted a .296 batting average in league play, recording eight hits and driving in a pair of runs.

In the pitcher's circle, sophomore Taylor Carter (Brazil, Ind.) has ammassed a 6-8 record in 19 appearances, including 15 starts. Meanwhile, senior righthander Whitney Leon (Dandridge, Tenn.) leads ETSU with 61 strikeouts this season. Leon has made 21 pitching appearances and 12 starts for the Bucs.

OPPONENT AT A GLANCE

The UNCG Spartans (17-19, 2-9 SoCon) will enter this weekend's series coming off a doubleheader split at Appalachian State Wednesday, April 22.

Seven UNCG players are batting better than .300 this season, including Tory Wright, Nicole Thomas, and Lindsay Thomas, who have driven in nearly half of the Spartans' runs this season.

Wright leads the SoCon in on-base percentage (.491) and walks (22). Meanwhile, Nicole Thomas has driven in a team-best 36 runs. Lindsay Thomas has driven in 31 runs this season.

Nicole Thomas ranks third in the SoCon in runs batted in per game (1.00) and fifth in slugging percentage (.647).

UNCG is 8-7 at home this season.
