After playing their first 15 games on the road, the Bucs finally head home for this weekend’s Buccaneer Classic.

ETSU enters the weekend 6-9 on the season … The Bucs look to build off last year’s successful home schedule that saw the Blue and Gold go 13-5 at Betty Basler Field en route to posting the highest home winning percentage in program history.

Kylie Toler (Bradenton, Fla.), Julia Fritz (Glen Allen, Va.) and Taylor Wright (Erwin, Tenn.) are all coming off strong showings at last weekend’s Purple/Gold Challenge in Nashville … Toler hit .571 (4-for-7) with three doubles, two RBI and two walks, while Fritz went 4-for-9 (.444) with a home run, three walks and two runs scored … Wright hit .385 (5-for-13) with two home runs and two runs scored in the four games.

Tiffany Laughren (Erwin, Tenn.) is set to make her 100th career start this weekend … In 99 career games, Laughren is hitting .326 (90-for-276) with 25 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 42 runs, 47 walks and 46 RBI … Laughren is 10 hits shy of reaching 100 for her career.

Senior pitcher Madison Ogle (Maryville, Tenn.) is eyeing a career milestone of her own as she is 12 strikeouts shy of No. 200.

Fritz carries a four-game hit streak into this weekend’s tournament.

The Bucs have recorded at least one extra-base hit in 12 of their 15 games this season, with ETSU going 5-1 when out-hitting its opponents.

The Blue and Gold have played in six games that have been decided by two runs or less, with ETSU winning four of those six contests.

As a team, the Bucs have homered in four straight games, while ETSU’s pitching staff has allowed only one home run in its last 28 innings … In addition, the Blue and Gold are one of the toughest teams to strikeout in the country as ETSU leads the SoCon in fewest strikeouts (54).

Saint Peter’s just opened its season last weekend as the Peacocks dropped three of their four games at the Coppin St. Eagles Classic … The Peacocks defeated Rider, while falling to Hartford, Coppin State and Morgan State.

Senior infielder Nicole Feoli, and sophomores Alina Geuvara and Brianna Hutchinson all hit over .400 at last weekend’s tournament … Feoli leads the team with a .467 batting average (7-for-15), while Guevara and Hutchinson are both hitting .462.

As a team, Saint Peter’s ranks 14th nationally with a .330 batting average, while ranking 27th in scoring (6.0).

ETSU and Saint Peter’s have met once in program history with the Bucs defeating the Peacocks, 5-2, on March 8, 2007.

After losing its first five games to start the season, Jackson State has won three of its last four and enters the weekend at 3-6 overall.

The Tigers are led by Kelsey Smith and Sierra Smith as they are a combined 15-for-36 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs, seven runs and 15 RBI … Kelsey Smith leads the club in batting average (.471), hits (8), and RBI (10), while Sierra Smith is hitting .368 (7-for-19) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, four runs and five RBI.

Jackson State is 19-for-21 in stolen bases with Kaitlyn Elzie, Arianna Cruz and Tisha Lane combining to go 13-for-13.

This weekend marks the Bucs’ first-ever meetings with Jackson State.

Austin Peay has won three of its last four games and enters the weekend with an overall record of 6-7.

Danielle Liermann leads the Govs as she is hitting .400 (16-of-40) with three doubles, six home runs, seven runs scored and 21 RBI in 13 games … Kacy Acree is 10-for-29 (.345) with two doubles, a home run, five RBI and three runs scored.

Liermann has accounted for half of Austin Peay’s 12 home runs and over half of its 40 RBI.

In the circle, Morgan Rackel and Kelly Mardones have combined for five wins, two shutouts and 60 strikeouts in 68 innings.

ETSU and Austin Peay have split its prior two meetings with the Bucs winning 7-6 on March 3, 2006 and the Govs taking a 5-0 decision on Feb. 9, 2013.
