Gerald Sensabaugh earns All-America honors

Gerald Sensabaugh was named to The Sports Network 2003 I-AA All-American Team Monday afternoon
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 15, 2003) – East Tennessee State junior safety Gerald Sensabaugh (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named to The Sports Network 2003 I-AA All-America team, released Monday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa.

Sensabaugh was a third-team selection, and was one of nine players from the Southern Conference to be named to the team.

Sensabaugh finished fourth on the Buccaneers with 74 tackles on the season and added two tackles for losses, two sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He finished second on the team with eight pass breakups and led the team with five blocked kicks.

The 6-2, 210 pound safety tied an NCAA record with three blocked punts against Georgia Southern on Nov. 1. Sensabaugh blocked one kick in the second quarter, then two more in the fourth quarter on consecutive GSU possessions. His blocked kicks led to 15 of ETSU’s 22 points on the afternoon.

Sensabaugh is the first Buccaneer to earn All-America accolades since Tony Tiller, Brandon Calton and Cecil Moore were selected by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette following the 2001 season.
