Audia, Maxwell set season bests at Appalachian State Valentine Open

Sophomore Hannah Audia turned in a season best time in the 800m on Thursday.

Junior Terence Maxwell finished second in the 400m.

BOONE, N.C. (Feb. 12, 2009) – Making their last appearance before the 2009 Atlantic Sun Indoor Conference Championships, sophomore Hannah Audia (Pennington Gap, Va.) and junior Terence Maxwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) set season bests at the Appalachian State Valentine Open on Thursday afternoon inside the Holmes Center.

Audia, who set her previous season best in the 800m at the Niswonger Invitational with a time of 2:26.07, shaved four seconds off that mark by finishing third. The deuces were wild for the sophomore runner, as she finished third with a time of 2:22.22.

On the men’s side, Maxwell was busy turning in a season best in the 400m. The Kingsport, Tenn. native finished with a second-place time of 51.79, which was better than his 51.89 that he ended with last month on the same track.

“I am very pleased with both of their efforts today,” commented associate track and field coach Michelle Byrne. “We wanted to have both Hannah and Terence improve on their seeds for the conference championships, and both achieved that today.”

Senior transfer Heidi Dahl (Orem, Utah) will be in action tomorrow when she competes in the mile at the Tyson Invitational, in Fayetteville, Ark.

The rest of the ETSU track and field team is tuning up for the conference championships, which will be contested on Feb. 20-21 inside Memorial Center.
