Rachel Cooper joined the ETSU coaching staff in 2006 and now enters her fourth season with the program, after spending her first two seasons as a graduate assistant. Cooper’s responsibilities include team travel, recruiting and training the outside hitters. Under Cooper, Desiree Dyck was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Freshman team in 2007.

 

A Roscoe, Ill., native, Cooper was a four-year letterwinner and starting outside hitter for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. A two-year captain and team Most Valuable Player, Cooper was also the first Bulldog athlete ever named SEC Player of the Week. She finished her career third all-time in kills with 1,405. A standout academically as well as athletically, Cooper was an MSU Bulldog and SEC Honor Roll selection. She was also named to both the President’s and Dean’s list and was nominated to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. Cooper was also a member of the Good Works Team in recognition of her community service.

 

Cooper graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She received her Master of Arts degree in Sport Management from ETSU in May 2008. Cooper also coaches for the local Kingsport Volleyball Club.
