Johnson City, Tenn.-- East Tennessee State freshman outside hitter Kate Steidle paced the Bucs with 15 kills and just two errors on 29 attempts for a .448 hitting percentage as the Buccaneers defeated the Wofford Terriers 3-0 in volleyball action Friday night from Brooks Gym.
With the win, the Buccaneers move to 5-4 (3-1) and have now won three matches in a row. Junior setter Carey Cavanaugh also had a solid performance, leading the Bucs with 29 sets and finishing second on the team with 10 digs. Junior outside hitter Amber Ciskowski led the Bucs with 12 digs and added seven kills.
ETSU won the first game 15-5 and the second 15-10 before Wofford (1-11, 1-5) stormed out to a 10-5 lead in the third. The Buccaneers quickly regained momentum and rallied for ten points in a row to win the final game 15-10.
The Terriers were led by sophomore outside hitter Janna Webb who finished with eight kills and six digs. Sophomore setter Molly Bushong led Wofford in sets with 16 and tied for the team lead in digs with seven.
The Buccaneers return to the hardwood Saturday night as the Furman Paladins come to Johnson City. Action from Brooks Gym is set to begin at 5:00.
