Volley Bucs' signing class named among nation's elite

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

(July 18, 2007) - The ETSU volleyball squad's incoming freshman class was recently named honorable mention in a ranking of the nation's best recruiting classes by Prepvolleyball.com.

With four starters to replace off of last season's Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship team, a highly touted recruiting class is exactly the news head coach Lindsey Devine and her staff needed.

The Lady Bus' signed five players in the fall signing period, led by local product and high school All-American setter Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.).  Joining Cogburn in that signing class were Middle blocker/right side Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.), outside hitter Britney Loomis (Michigan City, Ind.), outside hitter Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) and outside hitter Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va.).  Outside hitter Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake Saskatchewan) and defensive specialist Dani Howe (Hermitage, Tenn.) joined the ETSU signing class in the spring signing period as well.

The Lady Bucs open their 2007 campaign August 24th against Georgia State at the Georgia State Invitational, and open their home slate August 28th against Tusculum inside Brooks Gym.
