JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team was swept by Lipscomb Saturday afternoon in Brooks Gym, 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 11-25).
The Bucs (9-19, 5-13 A-Sun) were led offensively by Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) as she tallied ten kills. Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) had nine kills in the match.
Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) collected 20 assists setting the ETSU offense, while Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) led the Bucs defensively with nine digs.
Both teams exchanged points early in the first set until the Bucs went on a 6-2 run to take a 12-10 lead. The ETSU lead didn't last long though as the Bisons went ahead 20-16 after an 8-2 run. The Bucs were able to cut the lead to 23-21 after winning three straight points, but Lipscomb won the set on a kill by Alex Kelly, 25-21. Dyck had six kills for the Bucs in the set.
The Bisons took a 6-4 lead after a 5-2 run early in the second set. Lipscomb extended the lead to 11-8, but the Bucs took four straight points to go in front 12-11. The Bisons then had runs of 6-1 and 7-2 to make the score 24-16. Lipscomb then won the set on an ETSU error to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
In the third set, Lipscomb came out hot going in front 7-4 after a 6-2 run. The Bisons increased their lead to 18-7 after an 11-2 run, and put the match away after a 7-2 run to make the final 25-11.
