JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2009) - The ETSU volleyball team won its third-straight match sweeping Stetson Friday night in Brooks Gym, 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-21).
Junior Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.) led the way for the Bucs with her second double-double of the season posting a team-high 16 kills and ten digs. Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) also had double-digit kills with 11, while Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) played well in the back tallying 17 digs.
"It was great to win it in three tonight," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "I am proud of our team as they continue to translate things from practice into game play. I thought Lauren did a fantastic job. Dani had some big serves at key moments. Whitney came up with some big swings for us, and Kristan Provchy (Norton, Ohio) really stepped up for us with three blocks in a row in the third set.
"We are going to have to continue to be that grinding team that doesn't take anything for granted," Devine said." We know that we are going to have to outplay our opponent by being scrappy, having discipline and staying focused the entire match. "
Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) ran the ETSU offense totaling 30 assists on the night, while Dani Howe (Hermitage, Tenn.) had three service aces for the Bucs.
With the game tied at 7-all in the first set, the Hatters (0-8, 0-2 A-Sun) went on a 7-2 run to take a 14-9 lead. ETSU answered with a 6-1 run to tie the match, 15-15. Both teams battled back-and-forth as there were eight ties and four lead changes late in the match, until with the score tied at 24-all the Bucs got kills from Cogburn and Provchy to put the set away 26-24.
In the second set, the Bucs saw an 8-3 lead fade early as Stetson went on a 6-2 run to tie the set at 10-all. ETSU jumped back in front and used to 11-3 run to win the set 25-16, taking a 2-0 lead into the break. Baufield led the way for the Bucs with four kills in the set.

ETSU then used an 8-2 run to take an 18-2 advantage after kills by Baufield and Cogburn.
