NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2012) – For the second time in the last three seasons the ETSU volleyball team will be playing in the Atlantic Sun Championship match. On Saturday inside Lipscomb’s Allen Arena, the third-seeded Bucs will face fourth-seeded North Florida at 4 p.m. (Eastern).
The Bucs (22-12) secured their spot in the final by sweeping past Mercer in Thursday’s quarterfinal, while ending Lipscomb’s three-year run of tournament champion with a four-set win on Friday night.
North Florida also earned a sweep in the quarterfinal after taking down Jacksonville, and the Ospreys recorded just their third win in 16 meetings over Florida Gulf Coast with a five-set victory in Friday’s second semifinal game. The Ospreys are riding an eight-match winning streak into Saturday’s championship and sit 22-11 on the year.
ETSU and UNF split the season series with the Bucs winning a four-setter in Johnson City, while the Ospreys won in five last weekend in Jacksonville. Overall, the Bucs have won nine of the 13 matches in the series and five of the last six.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and live stats can be accessed by visiting AtlanticSun.org. Twitter updates will also be available by following @ETSUAthletics.
