Cristy Carter and Janna Webb gave inspired performances to lead Wofford to a win over East Tennessee State in three games on Oct. 27 in Spartanburg, SC.

Wofford won by scores of 15-8, 15-11, and 15-9. The Lady Terriers improve to 7-17 overall and 4-11 in the Southern Conference. The Buccaneers fall to 13-8 overall and 9-5 in the league.

Carter finished with a team-high 16 kills with just one error. She also tallied 14 digs and two solo blocks. Webb had 13 kills and 10 digs.

Wofford won the first game with relative ease. East Tennessee State caught fire in the second game, jumping out to a 7-0 lead. The Buccaneer lead was 9-1 before the Lady Terriers made a valiant comeback to win the game and deflate the Bucs.

The third game was nip-and-tuck the whole way until Wofford used a scoring spurt to go up 14-9. However, East Tennessee State did not let Wofford win without a fight as the teams combined for seven side outs before Wofford got its 15th point for the game and match.

Rachel Shifflet led the Buccaneers with 17 kills and 14 digs. Amber Ciskowski added 10 kills and 10 digs.

East Tennessee State travels to Furman for a match on Oct. 28 at 5:00.
