CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Oct. 3, 2007) -The ETSU volleyball team defeated UT-Chattanooga Wednesday night on the road in four games, 30-20, 24-30, 32-30, 30-22.

"Kaena was great for us tonight with 41 digs," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "Playing a team with a great defensive player like Chattanooga does provided motivation for Kaena, but even so she always brings intensity every time she is out on the court."

Senior Kaena Apana (Waianae, Hawaii), broke yet another school record shattering the school record for digs in a four game match with 41 in the win over the Mocs. The previous record was held by Karen Freeburg who had 32 digs against Elon in 2004. Apana, who is ranked ninth in the nation in digs per game, now holds all three school records for digs.

Freshman Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan), led the Bucs offensively with a career high 26 kills and an amazing .429 hitting percentage. Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.), had yet another double-double collecting 10 kills and 10 digs along with her six blocks. Courtnie McKinney (St. Louis, Mo.), had a great night tallying 14 kills, while Michelle Mislan (Indianapolis, Ind.), had 13 kills.

"Defensively the whole team did something for us tonight, and I am pleased with the way our team blocked," Devine said. "Desiree had a great night offensively, and Courtnie had some great kills at key moments in the match."

Marissa Mortensen (Elk Grove, Ill.), and Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.), shared the setting duties as Mortensen tallied 31 assists and Cogburn had 32 assists. Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.), had a good defensive night as she had 14 digs.

With the win the Bucs improve to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Bucs head to Spartanburg, S.C. Thursday night to take on USC Upstate at 6 p.m. in a conference match.
