NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2007) -The ETSU volleyball team improved their conference record to 3-0 beating Lipscomb on the road Friday night in five games, 22-30, 30-26, 30-25, 28-30, 15-13.

 

"The team fought hard till the end," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "It was a great team effort and a good win for us."

 

The Bucs were led by senior Kaena Apana (Waianae, Hawaii), who broke the school record for digs in a five game match collecting 42 digs. Freshman Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan), led the Bucs offensively with a career best 21 kills, while Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.), had 13 kills. Senior Michelle Mislan (Indianapolis, Ind.), also had double digit kills tallying 11 kills for the Bucs

 

"Kaena was amazing tonight playing very well in the back for us," Devine said. "Desiree and Callie had great offensive games."

 

Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.), had a double-double for the fifth consecutive game quarterbacking the offense with 57 assists and 14 digs. Youell also had six kills and three blocks. Freshman Britney Loomis (Michigan City, Ind.), had a good game for the Bucs collecting nine kills, 13 digs and eight blocks on the night.

 

"Dani Howe (Hermitage, Tenn.), did a fantastic job in the back row tonight," Devine said. "Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.), helped with ball control for us in the game."

 

With the win the Bucs are now 11-8 overall and 3-0 in conference. The Bucs finish competition this weekend as they will take on Belmont on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.
