MACON, Ga. (Nov. 21, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team saw its season come to end Friday night as they were swept by top seeded Lipscomb in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun tournament at the University Center in Macon, Ga., 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 22-25).

"Regardless of the outcome we should all be very proud of ourselves," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "We followed our game plan, but when we needed a couple points we came up empty. For us to be able to push through we needed to get those points. It's exciting though because we have the potential to be back here again next year."

The Bucs (12-20, 7-13 A-Sun) were led offensively by Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) as she totaled ten kills hitting .381 (10-2-21) in the match.

Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) collected 27 assists as she quarterbacked the ETSU attack, while freshman Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) had 17 digs on the night.

"Despite being a young team, we have made great strides." Devine said. "I know as a coaching staff we have really enjoyed working with these girls."

In the first set, the Bisons jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but the Bucs pulled off five straight points to take an 8-6 lead. Lipscomb answered with a 7-3 run to retake the lead 13-11. Play was back and forth until the Bisons extended their advantage to 22-17. ETSU cut the lead to 22-21 after taking four straight points, but Lipscomb was able to hold on to win the set, 25-21.

ETSU came out flat in the second set as the Bisons quickly got out to a 7-1 advantage. The Bucs were able to hang around until Lipscomb went on a 6-2 run to go ahead 20-10. The Bisons took the second set 25-15 and held a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Play was even for much of the third set. With Lipscomb up 15-13, the Bucs went on a 6-1 run to take a 19-16 lead. The Bisons again answered with an 8-2 run on their own to jump back in front 24-21. The match ended on an ETSU attack error to make the final 25-22.
