KENNESAW, Ga. (Oct. 18, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team was swept by Kennesaw Saturday afternoon at the KSU Convocation Center in Kennesaw, Ga., 3-0 (18-25, 25-27, 22-25).

"I think we need to have more intensity and put pressure on our opponent," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "We have the talent to do great things on the court, but we just didn't do it tonight."

The Bucs (7-13, 4-8 A-Sun) were led by Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.) who collected nine kills and hit .643 on the night (9-0-14). Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) also had a good night as she tallied seven kills.

ETSU split the setting duties as Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) had 16 assists, while Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 14 assists for the Bucs.

In the first set, play was back and forth, but the Owls took advantage of a couple ETSU errors, and four kills by Chelsea Denesha to take the set 25-18.

The Bucs battled back in the second set as Baufield led the way with five assists. ETSU jumped out to a 15-11 lead, but Kennesaw State put together a couple key kills to cut things to 16-15. The Bucs again jumped out as the Owls made a couple errors to extend the ETSU advantage to 22-17, but again Kennesaw answered putting together a couple three-point runs to take the second set 27-25.

Kennesaw took the third set after a seven-point run followed by a three-point run to take a 10-6 lead and never lost the lead making the final 25-22.

The Bucs are back in action on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. as they will host Florida Gulf Coast in Brooks Gym. Please visit www.ETSUBucs.com for more information on ETSU volleyball or any other Buccaneer athletic team.
