JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2009) - The ETSU volleyball team had three players post double-doubles as the Bucs upset Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon in Brooks Gym, 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 15-11).

"This was a great carry over from last night," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "When this team buys into the game plan and puts it all out on the court we are very good. I think we started strong and really thrived on the emotions from it being senior day. We showed a lot of heart, and if we put everything out on the court and have no regrets then we feel like we will come away with a good result."

Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.), Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Desiree Dyck (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) each posted a double-double in the match. Youell had another good all-around performance with five kills, 54 assists and 16 digs hitting a team-best .417. Cogburn had 14 kills and 12 digs, while Dyck had a team-high 15 kills and 13 digs.

Junior Alysa Long (Romulus, Mich.) also tallied double-digit kills with 14 hitting .333. Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) played strong in the back with 24 digs as the Buccaneers had a season-high 94 digs.

"I thought that Kristan Provchy (Norton, Ohio) did a fantastic job in set one," Devine said. "Her leadership and knowledge of the game will really be missed. It was ironic for Amanda to play the team she transferred from on senior day, and to win in five. I think that shows that she wants to close out here career here in the conference tournament."

Jacksonville used a 10-3 run early in the first set to take a 14-7 advantage. The Dolphins went on to take the set 25-16 on an ETSU attack error to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the second set, but the Buccaneers battled back to cut the Jacksonville lead to 14-13. After evening the set at 17-all the Bucs went ahead 18-17 on a JU attack error. The Bucs did not trail in the set from that point on as they won the set on a huge block from Long and Youell, 25-23.

In the third set, ETSU came out playing determined as they got out to a quick 7-3 lead. The Dolphins looked to rally, but the Bucs played tough getting out to an eight point lead at 22-14. The Buccaneers won the set on a Dolphin attack error as they took a 2-1 lead in the match. Dyck led the way for the Bucs with six kills in the set.

After ETSU got out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth set, Jacksonville went on to win seven-straight points to take a 8-4 lead. The Bucs cut the Dolphin lead to one point at 15-14, but Jacksonville held on to win the set 25-20 tying the match at 2-all.

Play was tight early in the final set. With the score tied 4-4, the Bucs went on 6-2 run to go out in front 10-6. ETSU went on to win the match on a Cogburn kill, 15-11.

The Bucs (11-16, 9-9 A-Sun) are back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. as they head to Nashville, Tenn. to take on conference rival Belmont. For more information on Buccaneer volleyball and all other Buccaneer athletic news, please visit
