JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 7, 2013) – The ETSU volleyball team will send three of its players overseas this summer to compete in the ninth annual 2013 European Global Challenge, hosted by Bring It Promotion (BIP) July 10-21 in Pula, Croatia.

Senior Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) and junior Meredith Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) will play on the BIP-Southeastern Team, while sophomore Jessica Schafer (Dekalb, Ill.) will be on Team BIP.

The four-day tournament will host junior national teams, youth national teams, and elite women’s club teams from Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Montenegro, Slovenia, Russia, Romania, as well as the United States. Each tour will include practices, training matches, a competitive tournament, and sightseeing, as well as great cultural experiences across Europe.

The BIP-Southeastern team will begin in Budapest, Hungary to sightsee, practice, and compete against Vasas Sports Club (2013 Hungarian Cup Champions). From Budapest, the team will travel to Pula, Croatia for the European Global Challenge opening ceremonies. Tournament dates are set for July 15-18, 2013. All tours will conclude in Italy with a day trip of sightseeing through the amazing canals of Venice before participants return to the United States. The BIP-SE Team is made up of 10 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, Division II, and NJCAA institutions and will be coached by Daniel Magnusson (Ljungby Volleyboll Klubb, Sweden) and Meghan Sherman from the University of Georgia.

Team BIP consists of six Americans and four to five European players, who will be coached by Jerry Hulla of Bemidji State University. The team will play in the same tournament as BIP-SE from July 15-18.
