MACON, Ga. (Nov. 18, 2013) – After posting 17 total blocks in two matches last weekend, ETSU junior middle blocker Meredith Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) landed Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced the league office on Monday.

Hardy, who helped guide the Bucs to a share of the regular season conference championship, averaged 2.83 blocks (17 total) and 4.17 kills (25 total) per set, while also hitting .412 (25-4-51) this past weekend in matches against North Florida and Jacksonville.

On Friday, Hardy registered a .556 attack percentage (17-2-27), along with adding eight blocks and two digs in the sweep over UNF. From there, the Kingsport, Tenn. native tallied nine blocks and eight kills in the setback against Jacksonville.

The A-Sun Scholar Athlete of the Year claimed four weekly honors this season – three Defensive and one Player of the Week.

The Bucs now turn their attention to postseason play as ETSU begins defense of its A-Sun Championship Friday night at Kennesaw State. The Blue and Gold take on the winner of No. 3 Lipscomb/No. 6 Kennesaw State in the conference semifinal at 7:30 p.m.
