With all the new faces on this season's ETSU volleyball team, we thought it would be fun to get to know each of the new players throughout the season. This week we talked to Allison Humes (Somonauk, Ill.).

Firstly, how did you decide to come to ETSU?

I decided to come here because the atmosphere is great. It is a lot like family and that is what I wanted.

How has the adjustment to college volleyball gone for you?

The time commitment and the competition. It is like a completely different world and yes I have two years under my belt but it has been amazing and everyone here has made it easy to adjust.

Do you have any specific goals while you are here at ETSU?

I definitely want to win a conference championship. I know how bad Coach (Devine) wants it and the way she talks about it makes me want it even more. I think it would be great to bring a conference title home.

What do you feel is your strength on the court?

My energy. I come off the bench quite a bit and I notice when I come on the court the team’s energy gets a big boost. I think it is electrifying and makes everyone’s intensity go up.

Do you have a major yet and what are your career plans?

I am majoring in international relations with a minor in criminal justice. I want to be a police officer for a couple years and then get my masters and hopefully work for the federal government one day.

What do you like to do away from volleyball?

Like every other girl I love to watch Netflix and hang out with friends.

If you hadn’t gotten into volleyball, what sport would you have gotten into?

Probably would’ve stuck with basketball. I played college basketball for a year but I decided volleyball was the way to go. So I probably would’ve gone with basketball.

Do you have any rituals before you play?

I don’t but I always have to a white headband on before the game.

What’s your favorite food?

Anything Asian preferably hibachi rice and chicken. It’s awesome.

If you could meet any three people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

I would probably pick Matthew Mcconaughey because he is super cute. I think Princess Diana because everyone said that she was such a good person so I think she would be interesting to talk to. Lastly, I’d go with Michael Jackson because he was such a cool character.
