SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2015) – East Tennessee State University volleyball player Briana Allmon (Flower Mound, Texas) has been named the General Shale SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week. Allmon is a nursing major and holds a 3.95 grade point average.

The Flower Mound, Texas native, who also earned SoCon Offensive Player of the Week earlier this week, posted a 16-kill performance against UNCG on Sept. 30. In addition to her 16 kills, she hit .500 with just one attack error. The .500 hitting percentage ties the highest mark for an ETSU player this season. Allmon also had 12 digs against the Spartans to notch her fifth double-double of the season. In her second match of the week against Mercer, Allmon hit .370 with 13 kills in 27 attempts to go along with six digs.

This is the third time that an ETSU player has been honored this week. In addition to Allmon’s SoCon Offensive Player of the Week and Student Athlete of the Week accolades, senior Khadijah Wiley (Columbus, Ga.) earned SoCon Defensive Player of Month on Monday.

The Bucs will return to action Friday when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take on Samford at 8 p.m.
