SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 9, 2015) – After going 2-0 this past week, the East Tennessee State University volleyball team swept the conference’s weekly awards Monday. Senior Khadijah Wiley (Columbus, Ga.) was tabbed the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Hailey Aguilar (Oswego, Ill.) was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Wiley led ETSU’s offense with a .404 hitting percentage in 52 attempts last week. In Wednesday’s victory at Wofford, Wiley notched 14 kills, which was one shy of her season-high. On Saturday, Wiley totaled 11 kills in 23 attempts with just one attack error (.435 hitting percentage) in the 3-0 win at UNCG. The senior middle blocker was also a force defensively leading the Bucs in total blocks with nine (1.29 blocks per set).

Wiley is one of three ETSU players to appear in every set this season. The Columbus, Ga. native ranks third on the team with 262 kills (2.79 kills per set). She has paced the Bucs on the block averaging 1.30 blocks per set, which also leads the SoCon. Wiley has notched double figure kill totals in 16 of the team’s 27 matches this season and leads ETSU with a .279 hitting percentage.

Aguilar led ETSU’s defensive effort last week with 45 digs in two matches (6.43 digs per set), while also chipping in offensively with five assists. The freshman libero notched a career-high 29 digs in the victory over Wofford Wednesday, which is the most for an ETSU player this season. In the 3-0 win at UNCG Saturday, Aguilar totaled 16 digs (5.33 digs per set).

The Oswego, Ill. native ranks seventh in the league averaging 4.01 digs per set, which also leads the Bucs. Aguilar has appeared in every match during her freshman season and has reached double digits in digs in six of the last seven matches and has 24 digs or more in two of those matches. In addition to her work defensively, Aguilar is third on the squad with 61 assists and sixth with 19 aces.

Wiley, Aguilar and the rest of the Bucs will wrap up the regular season with a pair of matches at Brooks Gym on Nov. 13-14. ETSU will host Chattanooga Friday and Samford Saturday with both matches set to begin at 2 p.m.
