Bucs hope to improve on their 19-12 record from a season ago in 2016

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 10, 2016) – The ETSU volleyball team officially opened its 2016 season Tuesday as it held its first official practice of the new season inside Brooks Gym. The Bucs, who went 19-12 overall and 9-7 in the SoCon in 2015, will have 17 days to prepare for their first match of the season against Austin Peay on Aug. 26.

“It was a great first day of preseason for our team,” said ETSU Head Coach Lindsey Devine who is entering her 14th season at the helm. “I was really pleased with the energy and focus. It is evident that the team culture and standards that we established this past spring were present and the players were excited about the work that is in front of them.”

ETSU fans will see plenty of familiar faces when the team takes the floor at Brooks Gym this fall as 10 players return from the 2015 team. Among the returners are All-SoCon performers: Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.), Briana Allmon (Flower Mound, Texas) and Hailey Aguilar (Oswego, Ill.). In addition to the 10 returners, the Bucs will also have three newcomers on the team this season: Madison Mudd (Louisville, Ky.), Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Aya Lechin (Deerfield, Beach, Fla.).
