ETSU heads into the weekend with a season-long seven game win streak

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  (October 27, 2016) – The ETSU volleyball team will look to continue its winning ways this weekend as the Buccaneers look to remain perfect at home and extend their season-long seven game winning streak with a pair of conference matches.

Scouting the Buccaneers
ETSU heads into the weekend atop the Southern Conference standings with an overall record of 16-6 and 8-2 in conference play. The Bucs are currently riding a season-long seven game win streak, the longest streak since winning nine games back in 2013. Last weekend, the blue and gold swept Mercer and The Citadel at home.

Home Sweet Home
The Bucs have maintained a perfect 8-0 record at home inside Brooks Gym this season. ETSU at home has outscored their opponents, 24-2 and hasn’t lost a set in Johnson City since October 7 versus Western Carolina.

Good LUX
Sophomore outside hitter AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) has been consistent offensive threat for the Bucs this season recording 246 kills which is second best on the team. Last weekend, Lux helped the Bucs earn two three-set victories registering 18 kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .548.

ETSU leads the SoCon in RPI
ETSU leads the SoCon in RPI (ratings power index) coming in with a ranking of 112th. The next closest Samford is ranks 150th.

Scouting the Wofford Terriers
Wofford has an overall record of 14-12 and 6-5 during conference play. The Terriers have earned back-to-back four set victories defeating Western Carolina last Saturday and Presbyterian on Tuesday. Wofford leads the SoCon in service aces (145) and is fourth in kills per set (12.74.)

Scouting the UNCG Spartans
UNCG heads into Saturday’s match-up with the Bucs with an overall record of 12-6 and 6-3 in SoCon play. Before taking on ETSU at home, the Spartans will travel to Cullowhee, N.C. for a showdown with Western Carolina. UNC-Greensboro has won four straight contests with two coming by way of three-set victories.
