BOONE, N.C. (September 2, 2017) – The Bucs paced through a four-set win over the Mountaineers 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-17) on Saturday afternoon. After losing the first set, the Bucs powered through three sets in a row to capture their second win of the season. During the first, Hailey Aguilar (Chicago, Ill.) had some excellent digs that saved multiple balls going out of play. Mariah McPartland (Boone, Iowa) also played great defensively. She saved many plays running across the court to keep the ball in play.

Aguilar continued to stay strong throughout the match as she gave the Bucs a 6-0 run, which helped the Bucs take a strong lead during the second set. She was driving her serves perfectly and the Mountaineers were not able to keep up. AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.) also was a key player throughout the match. Her team player mindset helped the Bucs power through a 25-19 win. Lux finished the set with 17 kills, two digs, and one block solo.

During the third set, Appalachian State had a six-point lead at one point, but the Bucs battled back. Lexie Libs (Clarksville, Ind.) had an excellent setup to teammate Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) to secure the third set win for ETSU. Milhorn recorded her first double-double of the season with a team-high of 18 kills and 12 digs. She was just two kills short of her career high of 20 kills, which she did when she was a freshman. Milhorn also finished the match with a .455 hitting percentage. Libs finished the match with 17 assists. Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) also finished with a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs.

Aya Lechin (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) was a key player during set four as she had three straight serves to put the Bucs on top. Lechin gave the Bucs their longest run of the day with her great serves.

As a team, the Bucs once again out-blocked their opponent with six blocks. During the fourth set, they had a .500 hitting percentage, their best percentage so far this season.
