SPARTANBURG, S.C. (October 23 2017) – Freshman libero Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The rookie is ranked first in the conference in digs per set.
Popovic was a key defensive player throughout the weekend finishing with 68 digs. On Friday against UNCG, she recorded a new career high of 34 digs and then tied that number against Western Carolina on Sunday. Her defensive efforts have helped ETSU as she’s also diving all over the floor to keep the balls in play for the Bucs.
